Comparison method

Higher fares do not automatically mean higher take-home

A cab may produce more gross revenue but can also carry larger fuel, maintenance, rent, or EMI costs. A bike usually costs less per kilometre but has smaller fares. An auto sits between them and may use petrol, CNG, LPG, or electricity depending on the vehicle.

For a fair comparison, the calculator applies one schedule, paid distance, dead-distance assumption, and platform charging model. Each vehicle still has its own ride count, fare, bonus, running cost, maintenance reserve, and fixed monthly cost.

Vehicle take-home = fares + bonuses - platform charges - distance costs - maintenance - monthly fixed costs

FAQ

Is one vehicle always more profitable?

No. Results depend on city demand, ride length, vehicle ownership, fuel type, financing, downtime, and the fares available to your account.

Why are the ride counts different for bike, auto, and cab?

Different trip lengths and waiting times can produce different ride volumes. All defaults are editable, so replace them with observations from your market.

What is running cost per kilometre?

It is fuel or electricity consumed per kilometre. For petrol, divide local fuel price by realistic mileage. For CNG, divide the per-kilogram price by kilometres per kilogram.

Does running cost include maintenance?

No. Maintenance is separate so you can reserve for tyres, servicing, oil, brakes, repairs, and other wear even when those bills are not paid every day.

What are monthly fixed costs?

Include EMI or rent, insurance allocation, permit-related costs, phone/data, parking subscriptions, and other recurring vehicle expenses.

How should I model an electric vehicle?

Enter charging cost per kilometre as running cost, add realistic maintenance, and include battery lease or replacement reserve in monthly fixed costs where relevant.

Can I compare owned and rented vehicles?

Yes. For an owned vehicle, enter EMI and recurring ownership costs. For a rented vehicle, enter the monthly rental and any costs not covered by the owner.

Why include dead kilometres for every vehicle?

Pickup travel and repositioning consume fuel and time without directly adding fare income. Ignoring them can materially overstate profit.

Are bonuses included?

Each vehicle has an editable daily bonus field. Set it to zero for a conservative comparison because incentive eligibility can change.

Is this an official Rapido comparison?

No. It is an independent scenario tool. It does not use private platform data and does not guarantee that any category is available in your city.
